New photo galleries highlighting the progress of two major developments in the city’s downtown area, as well as introducing a potential future project site have been added to Build Chilliwack. These updates provide a visual overview of the structural advancements and emerging opportunities within Chilliwack’s vibrant urban core.
Inching Forward: August Progress at Main Street Station
The Main Street Station development is showing structural progress this month. The latest images capture the installation of steel frames and concrete work, marking a critical phase in the project. Workers are actively welding and securing key structural elements, indicating that the project is steadily moving towards its next stages, which will involve interior partitioning and more detailed construction work.
Nearing the Finish: Roof Framing at 45754 Wellington Ave
The development at 45754 Wellington Avenue, spearheaded by Whitetail Homes, is nearing structural completion. Recent photos reveal the ongoing roof framing on this four-storey condominium, a pivotal step that signals the building is close to being fully enclosed. This modern condominium complex will soon add to the housing options available in downtown Chilliwack, contributing to the city’s growing residential offerings.
New Potential Rental Development: 45719, 45723 & 45731 Princess Ave
In addition to the construction updates, a new development site has been identified at 45719, 45723, and 45731 Princess Avenue. Currently fenced off and bearing the signage of Hollycrest Properties, this bare land is positioned for future development. The properties are zoned RES3 (Residential 3 - Low Rise Apartment), which supports the construction of low-rise apartments or stacked townhouses. This zoning is intended to create a mix of affordable housing options suitable for various demographics, including singles, couples, seniors, and young families.
The RES3 zoning allows for building densities between 70 and 155 units per hectare (uph), with the possibility of increasing to 225 uph for developments featuring smaller apartments or congregate care facilities. The properties’ proximity to transit options makes them ideal for transit-oriented development, further enhancing their appeal for future residential projects.
The presence of Hollycrest Properties’ signage indicates potential plans to develop these sites into residential rental units, contributing to Chilliwack’s rental housing market with a focus on quality and tenant satisfaction.
These properties, located within steps of each other in the Mary St/Wellington Ave area, represent ongoing and potential growth in downtown Chilliwack, highlighting the city's commitment to expanding its urban landscape with diverse housing options.
