Building 8 is a two-storey, 409 m² multi-tenant commercial building that is part of Phase 4 of the District 1881 redevelopment project in downtown Chilliwack. The building is designed to complement the historic character of the ongoing redevelopment, with architectural features that contribute to the project's cohesive aesthetic. The site includes sufficient off-street parking, and integrates well with existing pedestrian infrastructure, including the continuation of Thunderbird Lane and Sasquatch Alley—two pedestrian alleys featuring stamped pavement, benches, trees, and waste containers.
The building’s exterior will be enhanced by thoughtful lighting to illuminate sidewalks, alleys, and signage. Additionally, four trees will be planted to meet the Tree Management Bylaw requirements. A minor variance was approved to allow a 1.5-meter wide sidewalk along the west elevation, ensuring pedestrian-friendly access while maintaining consistency with the site's overall pedestrian connectivity.
