Chilliwack SmartCentres Sign

The applicant requests to vary the following standards of the Sign Bylaw to facilitate construction of a free standing digital sign on the subject property:

• To permit an electronic message board sign (digital sign);
• To increase the total copy area for a business premise sign from 23m2 to 32.5m2;
• To increase the maximum height for a business premise sign from 10m to 12.1m; and,
• To permit third party advertising.

A motion was carried to approve the issuance of Development Permit DVP01139 subject to the following conditions:

1. that the siting and design of the sign be in accordance with site plan and elevations attached as Schedule 'A';
2. that the frame duration be minimum of 15 seconds;
3. that animation is prohibited;
4. that transitions between frames be instantaneous without use of special effects;
5. that the sign be equipped with ambient light sensors; and,
6. that the display be limited to brightness of no more than 0.3 foot-candles above ambient light levels.
