Upcoming Development: 74-Unit Apartment Building at Carleton Street and Yale Road

The City of Chilliwack is considering a rezoning application to facilitate the construction of a 74-unit apartment building in the Mountainview East neighborhood. The proposed development, spearheaded by Rajinder Warraich of Flat Architecture, involves rezoning properties at 9777 and 9795 Carleton Street, along with 46780 Yale Road, from an R1-A (Urban Residential) Zone to an R5 (Low Rise Apartment) Zone.

This project is part of a broader initiative to align with the Chilliwack Proper and Fairfield Island Neighbourhoods Plan, providing additional housing options within a community-oriented environment. The development will feature urban frontage improvements, including a barrier curb, sidewalk, bike lane, and LED streetlighting, enhancing the neighborhood’s infrastructure.

Community consultations were conducted in June 2024, and feedback has been considered in the planning process. The rezoning application is scheduled for its initial readings on August 20, 2024.
